Horseback Riding Adventure!

Hola everyone!  Happy HUMP DAAAY! Giddy up!  Today half of the group traveled to Rio Nuevo to go on a three-hour horseback riding adventure.  Our tour guide, Adonis was very funny and always playing pranks on us.  To get to the horses, we traveled on bumpy terrain in a land cruiser.  When we reached our destination, the horses were waiting for us, tied to a row of trees.  We each got to select our horses.  To Avery's surprise, she selected a very slow donkey!  We hopped on our horses (or donkey) on a beautiful trail with Adonis leading the way.  We adventured up very steep, muddy hills.  When we finally reached the top of the hill, we overlooked a gorgeous view of the rainforest and even spotted a toucan!  For lunch, we stopped at a lodge unlike anything any of us have ever seen before.  It was a spectacular oasis in the middle of a primary rainforest.  For lunch we enjoyed homemade tortilla chips, black beans, a rice mixture with chicken (Adonis tricked us into thinking the chicken was iguana!) and a rare delicious fruit drink.  After we ate, we sat in the lodge and enjoyed the beautiful view of the jungle.  Adonis took us on a small rocky creek to enjoy swimming and jumping off large boulders into the deep water.  He even spotted two poison dart frogs.  We then hopped back on our horses rode back to our starting point for thirty minutes.  A few of our horses gained some energy while we were eating and decided to gallop back to our starting point instead of walking!  Lucie's horse decided to walk around in circles and go a tad off the trail.  When we arrived back to our starting point, we got off our horses and said goodbye to our new buddies.  Ten minutes later, Avery came strolling in on her little donkey.  It was such wonderful excursion and definitely one of the highlights of our trip.  Yee-haww!
Adios muchachos,

  1. Well alright! The horseback riders serve up a story/update. Sounds like a blast. Seems like both Adonis AND the horses were into playing tricks on you guys... :)

  2. Oh, Avery, sweetie.... I guess you didn't get your mamma's equestrian genes. At least it doesn't appear that there was any screaming this time! That's improvement. :)

So, did you guys EAT the chicken thinking it was iguana? If so, props to you for trying it! Any green juice there, Avery?

Keep trying new things - what a fantastic adventure!
