Bienvenidos amigos! Today, the whole lodge woke up to the howler monkeys’ very loud, deep growling at 4:30. After a delicious breakfast of rice and beans, toast, eggs, and sausage, the horseback riding group left for their excursion. The creak hikers had an extra hour to lounge around the lodge and lay on the hammocks. Once Marvin picked us up and took us to the creek, we started our hike. At first, the water was only ankle-deep. After walking a ways up the creek, the water became deeper and deeper. Captain Morgan gave us team challenges where we had to swim to a destination and work as a team to climb up small waterfalls. Next, we reached the 15-feet waterfall that we all took turns jumping off, even all of the chaperones and Ms. Kelly jumped in also. We continued our way down the creek and ended up at the Blue Lagoon, a small pool of water. We swam in the Blue Lagoon and participated in another team challenge. Then, we made our way to a small bridge that we could jump off of into another deep area. We explored the creek and eventually made our way back to where we started. Then, we walked a short distance to lunch, where we ate delicious quesadillas. Marvin drove us back to the lodge, where everybody was able to do their own thing and relax. Many people swam or kayaked, and some did their homework or wrote in their journal. When the horseback riders returned from their excursion, we all hung out together until dinner. Randy made lasagna for dinner, along with salad and ice cream for dessert. After dinner, two scorpions were found using a backlight around the cabinas. In honor of Mardi Gras next week, beads were distributed to those who showed strong leadership skills throughout the day. We finished the night by telling scary stories on the beach while looking at the stars. Thanks for all of your comments on our posts. We always enjoy hearing from you.
Good night,
Merritt and Brittany

Hey All!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying reading about your adventures on this blog. (Nice descriptive language ;) Hope everything is going well. You appear to be having a great time! See if you can pocket some of that warm weather for me--we are anticipating yet another snow day on Monday...Ugh. Report cards go out today. We will see you in a week. Be safe, and tell Miss Kell Kell I said, "Hi!"
Miss Orr
Swimming in a creek sounds soooo awesome right now. So does eating quesadillas, lounging around in a hammock, looking at stars and having a guy named Marvin as a driver and a chef named Randy. :)
ReplyDeleteSo jealous.......
Enjoy and thanks for the update...
It seems very strange to hear tales of swimming and beaches and hammock. The stories here are still wind chill, wintery mix and the like!
ReplyDeleteAvery, I know you've been anxiously awaiting news of your siblings, so here goes: Mac's basketball team is playing in the "Elite 8" of the city tournament tonight, Reilly has her Olympic-themed winter social tonight followed by a sleepover at Anna's, both Marley and Reilly have their first games in the Volleyball tournament tomorrow. The dogs are fine, although still taking themselves on occasional walks. And the twins made it to school on time every day this week. Oh, and Cooper started to walk!
Hello to Marvin, Jackie and Randy! The blog reminds me of just how much fun we all had in Costa Rica last year. Hopefully you are also finding time to learn a little something about the environment. Tim Fallon should have come to Costa Rica with a warning label on his forehead: "Place on top of a horse at your own risk, it is likely to induce high pitched screams of panic for duration of the ride". Hopefully Tim, the horse, and the rest of the riders have recovered from the experience! Way to go roomie! Hope everyone is having fun!
ReplyDeleteHello Brittany, from Katherine, mom and dad. We all wish we were there with all of you. The descriptions of the horse back riding and hikes sound like fun. Better yet the food sounds wonderful, we are expecting you to be able to cook all of these interesting foods for us when you get home.
ReplyDeleteHey guys!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you guys are having a great time!!! We are freezing here and are very jealous of you, especially the part about touring the chocolate farm and swimming in 80 degree weather!. Alex, life is boring here without you!! We miss you!! Elle starts the CYO volleyball tourney tonight, and Drew's team is in the final four of the CYO tourney. If his team wins tomorrow, they play for the championship on Sunday. Cooper misses you, so do your brothers and sister--they even admitted it! Please keep us updated!
