Zip Line

Hola amigos!

Today our large group was split into two smaller groups.  One group traveled to Finca KoBo, an organic chocolate farm, while the other group went zip lining.  After our delicious lunch of beef or chicken, beans, vegetables, and rice at La Palma, we switched activities.  While zip lining we went on eight different lines with Eduardo and two other staff members.  The first four lines were the slowest and shortest.  The other ones were longer and much faster, this included the Osa Peninsula’s longest zip line.  During our adventure, Claudia had the Go Pro recording while strapped to her helmet.  She was able to capture the amazing views of the primary rainforest and other people’s faces during their rides. A YouTube channel is in the works so we can share these amazing videos with you, the blog readers. After everyone had landed on the final platform, we all said our Gracias’s and Adios’s to Eduardo and his crew. Marvin had the air conditioning running on the bus (you don’t know how great that feels) and we were loaded in the vehicle and took off. The afternoon zip line group headed back to the chocolate farm to grab the members of group two. We made at pit stop at a local supermarket to get some helado (ice cream) and some refreshments. We headed back to the lodge just before the storm began. Almost everyone gathered on the beach to watch the pink lightning flash right before our eyes. Everyone sprinted to the kitchen when we heard Jackie rang the dinner bell. Our dinner was an oriental based meal that included shrimp fried rice, asian coleslaw, and homemade sushi. To the Habel family, we got Meme to try some shrimp! (big step from her usual dino nuggets). We are currently ending the night with a game of charades and are eating some delicious chocolate cake made by Randy and Jackie! Shoutout to Kari Walter for being so active on our blog and giving us a few laughs every night! We miss you lots and want to remind you how hot it is here!
Stay warm! (We shouldn't have a problem with that)…..maybe we will be able to bring a little paradise back to chilly Nati in just a week!

XOXO,
Avery, Claudia, and Meme

  1. So glad to hear you all survived (and enjoyed) the zip lining and can't wait to see the video. Avery, just so you know, I'm doing OK without my family - many people have called to make sure :) Going for pedicures tomorrow with the Rice and Miller girls. However, Minnie is lost without Mr. Reese! Loving the blog - keep the good stories coming!

    1. Hey Rose.....Tomorrow it's supposed to be cloudy and 50F here. Lily and I have decided to take advantage of such good weather and breakout the sunning chairs on the deck off your room. We will make sure we put on lots of sunscreen so don't worry.
We figured we squeeze a little bit of paradise in before a storm The Weather Channel is referring to as "Titan" unleashes more of the goodness the Polar Vortex has been blessing us with all winter.

  3. Hey Rosemary and Costa Rica travelers! Every day is an amazing adventure for all of you! Wow weeee!!!! I would like to request a report on the critters in your every day life! 4. MEME!!! Did you REALLY try the shrimp!?! I almost fell off my chair when I read that! Did they shape it into a dino for you to get you to try it?

It's crazy to read about you guys being hot and needing air conditioning. It is COLD here - and another big round of snow is supposed to be coming on Sunday. Harumph!

Mem - everyone left me here all by my lonesome! Andrew is gone, Nala went to her grandparents (and I forgot to pack her crate! I ordered one off Amazon to ship to the lakehouse - I don't even want to know what would happen if they left her out by herself), Mom/Dad/E are at M's games and you're ziplining through the rainforest. Not fair!

We got back some RSVP's for the wedding already! We know at least 7 people will be there. Ellen thought about it for a little while and she decided she would come so that makes 8. Hopefully you will be #9.

Have fun on your adventure tomorrow! I hope you're eating all that food I packed so carefully for you! I love you!

  6. Between Meme eating shrimp, the Polar Vortex unleashing its fury on southern Ohio once again and pink lightning, I'm pretty sure the world is coming to an end! Hope you're enjoying the final days. Sounds like a pretty awesome place to ride out the storm! Pink lightning? Where, the GoPro when you need it, Claudia?!

  7. Hey Costa Rica Students!!!
I hope you are having an awesome time in Costa Rica! Looks like (from the pictures) that you are having a fun time! How has the weather been? I hope it has been warm, because here in Cincinnait, it is FREEZING! There is tons of snow on the ground right now. Have you gone swimming or boating? What kind of food have you had? What has been your favorite part? I hope to see you soon! Have fun.
